Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is the management of acute and overuse injuries and impairments of the Musculoskeletal system, which consists of:
The primary goal of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists is to help you to recover quicker in order to return to your normal activities. At The Movement Clinic Sydney, we believe that every injury we see is unique in itself and we therefore put a lot of effort into finding out the cause of your problems and how we can get rid of your symptoms. Our therapists have been trained to perform an advanced clinical assessment to get a clear diagnosis and find out what your goals are, in order for us to devise a strategy to fix your current issues and prevent them from happening again.
Our philosophy at The Movement Clinic Sydney, is that we don’t just treat the injury, but that we treat the entire patient. We have a wholesome approach to our patients’ health, which means that we look at all the possible factors that might contribute to someone developing an injury, whether it’s a trauma, work-related or perhaps increased stress levels to name a few. Recognising these factors plays an important role, as they can help in successfully fixing the injury and preventing it in the future.
We think it’s vital that our patients understand what the dynamics behind their injuries are, so we can educate them and get them to buy into the process. As soon as they start taking responsibility for their actions and behaviour, they will become an active participator in the rehabilitation process and are almost guaranteed to get a satisfactory result.
Our location inside the Fitness First gym in Castle Towers, allows us to provide you with a tailor-made mix of Manual Therapy and Exercise-Rehab. We divide our time between the treatment rooms and facilities in the gym, to get a perfect blend of pain relief, mobilisations, stretches, stability and balance work and strength training each session. We use a broad range of treatment techniques to make sure we progress every single time and will teach you an equivalent of an exercise, so that you can do it at home to keep up to speed in between sessions.
No matter what level you are performing at the start of your rehab, we will always endeavour to take you into the gym. Not so much for pumping iron or to do a fitness test, but to let you get used to moving the injured body part again. Getting regular time in the gym and exercise the injured limb significantly reduces fear-avoidance behaviour and has the added bonus of incorporating it in normal functional movements. Later on in the Rehab process, the gym simply offers us a vast array of treatment possibilities, ranging from cardiovascular training, stability and balance exercises, loose weights for the upper limb, specific end-stage functional sports exercises and strength & conditioning training for building up leg and back strength. After your injury is cleared and you’re back to work, sports or your regular functional training and you want to stay healthy, then we can develop a long-term maintenance program for you, based on your individual goals and objectives.
