We are thrilled to announce the introduction of Exercise Physiology Group Classes, specifically designed for individuals who are at a high risk of developing, or with existing acute, chronic and complex medical conditions, injuries and disabilities.

8-Week Group Exercise Programs

Our 8-week program is suitable for people who may be overweight and/or obese, have chronic back, hip and knee pain, and are living with or at risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis and any other conditions.

  • The classes involve low- to medium-intensity exercise prescription, which is safe and clinically effective.
  • The focus is on promoting independence from medical treatment by facilitating self-management and stimulate positive healthy habits.
  • The Group Classes will host a maximum of 12 people and are run twice per week for 60 mins, for 8 weeks.
  • It consists of a variation between Cardiovascular training, Resistance training, Basic weights exercises, Mobility and Flexibility work and Core Stability.
  • Fitness levels between participants may vary and as such, we have developed modified individualised programs within a group setting.
  • The aim of the program is also to overcome preconceived ideas of exercise, enjoy the group dynamics and take confidence out of individual progress.

Beat It – Diabetes NSW

Individuals living with diabetes will be able to join the program gap-free through Beat It – Physical Activity and Lifestyle Program. Beat It is a fully funded program for people with, and at risk of, diabetes. Diabetes NSW & ACT developed this program to support people living with diabetes in becoming more active in their lifestyles, to improve their overall health, diabetes management, and have greater control over their condition.

Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)

All clients who hold a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) gold card (and eligible white card holders) could be eligible for ongoing Group Classes, led by our Exercise Physiologist, and will be bulk billed for exercise physiology services. Please contact your GP for the correct referral for this service.

Level Up

Diabetes is Australia’s fastest growing health condition with around 280 Australians developing diabetes every day, that’s one person every 5 minutes! Of those diagnosed with Diabetes 85-90 percent of cases are Type 2.

Level Up is a lifestyle management program designed and run by Accredited Exercise Physiologists for those living with Diabetes. The program endeavours to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to manage their condition via lifestyle strategies surrounding exercise and diet. The program will facilitate community inclusion and promote discussions about individual experiences when managing Diabetes. The Level Up program is designed for those motivated to take control over their health and wellbeing and wish to take their knowledge and skills to the next level.

Program Goals

• Reduce the risk for developing complications associated with Diabetes
• Improving cardiovascular health, overall strength, balance, and endurance
• Improving healthy eating habits
• Promoting long-term behavioural change
• Improving quality of life and functional independence

The Program

• Two weekly sessions

  • Classes are fun, safe, and supportive in a group setting, while specifically tailored to suit individual health and fitness levels. It will include a combination of cardio and resistance-type exercises. Intensity will start mild but build as participants become fitter, stronger, and more confident.

• Education Material

  • We provide regular education sessions to improve participants’ knowledge and understanding of Diabetes. It will also help participants make healthy lifestyle choices surrounding food, physical activity, and long-term self-management. Each participant will be provided with a work booklet to make notes as the program progresses.

• Medicare Subsidised

  • Medicare referrals such as “Type 2 Diabetes Group Services” can be used. Participants will be eligible for 8 partially subsidised sessions per calendar year. Please talk to your doctor for more information.
