At The Movement Clinic in Castle Hill we have a Fracture clinic for the casting of simple non-displaced fractures of the upper and lower limbs, such as feet, ankles/ lower legs, wrists and elbows. We also stack a range of Walker (Moon) Boots for ankle sprains and simple fractures, specifically designed to keep you going and get you back on track with your Rehab.

FRACTURE CASTING

The team at The Movement Clinic are now providing casting services, so you don’t need to wait in pain in line at the Accident & Emergency for hours before your cast is applied. As soon as the X-ray or scan has revealed a non-displaced fracture, you can make an appointment with one of our staff and we can do a cast on the spot.

We are now using a new type casting product, which is called HM Cast (Hybrid Mesh). The HM Cast is a stocking-type cast, made of a hybrid mesh with peculiar fibres with breathing holes, which is rolled onto the affected limb. It has the advantage of maintaining a certain elasticity, whilst being hard around the surface area of the fractured area.

The benefits of HM Cast are:

• APPLICATION; casts are set and applied within 15 minutes.
• VENTILATION 100%; excellent permeability, so no stinky odours!
• WATERPROOF 100%; no extra cover needed when you have a shower or go for a swim in the pool, as the water will drain out of the cast through the ventilation holes.
• LIGHTNESS 100%; extremely light and comfortable.
• X-RAY PENETRATION; easy to x-ray through the HM cast, so we can check if the fracture has healed, before we take the cast off unnecessarily.
