What is Exercise Physiology?

We implement exercise as a medical treatment strategy to assist clients with:

• Heart Disease
• Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis
• Fibromyalgia
• Depression, anxiety, PTSD
• Neuromuscular conditions (multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease)
• Osteoporosis
• Chronic pain
• Musculoskeletal Injury
• Post-operative Rehabilitation
• Asthma
• Chronic fatigue syndrome
• Diabetes
• Obesity
• COPD
• Cancer and cancer treatment recovery
• And many more!

What does exercise Physiology do?

In your initial consultation (up to 1 hour) your exercise physiologist will understand your goals and needs by taking full medical history, assessing movement dysfunction, posture, biomechanics, lifestyle habits, psychological behaviours, physical function and fitness, while working together with you to design the most effective and safe evidence-based exercise prescription. Depending on your needs this plan may include seeing the exercise physiologist weekly to supervise your exercise sessions, or periodic support to keep you on track and address any concerns.

The aim of an Exercise Physiologist is to help a client realise their potential, to take control of their condition and modify once negative behaviours into new, positive health outcomes.

Rebates
Rebates can be available for Exercise Physiology services from the following organisations:

Medicare
Medicare rebates are available via referral from your GP through a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. To qualify for a CDM plan you must have a chronic injury, condition or health issue.

Private health funds
Rebates can be available from all major private health funds depending on your level of cover. Ring your provider to enquire how much you are eligible to receive and what level of cover is required.

Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)
All clients who hold a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) gold card (and eligible white card holders) are bulk billed for exercise physiology services. Our EP’s provide much needed support for our veterans.

Workcover/ Workers Compensation
Our exercise physiologists are Workcover registered and provide rehabilitation for occupational injuries and work conditioning programs. See your Nominated Treating Doctor to enquire as to whether exercise physiology will be useful for your work injury.

National Disability Insurance scheme (NDIS)
Our Exercise Physiologists are registered NDIS providers. We provide services under the support category of “Improved Health and Well-being” (if funding has been allocated to the wrong category please contact us as this can be amended). We provide the option of home based, gym based or clinic consultations for our NDIS clients. Our exercise physiologists work closely with all team members to ensure each client’s specific needs and goals are achieved.

Diabetes Group Classes

Clients with type 2 diabetes also qualify for an additional referral under Medicare (Allied Health Group Services Referral). This referral entitles you to an initial assessment plus eight structured exercise class sessions with our Accredited Exercise Physiologists. Please ensure that you have a current referral from your GP prior to booking a consultation. Additionally, if you are a member of Diabetes NSW you could be eligible for a no-gap, bulk-billed Diabetes Group Program, funded by Diabetes NSW, structured similarly.
